Receding Gums Dentist, Hawthorn East
Receding Gums
Receding gums are the exposure of a tooth root at the gum margin. This may be caused by a number of factors, including toothbrush abrasion (vigorous brushing), calculus (hardened plaque) build up, smoking, or as a result of hormonal changes in women and history of gum disease in the family. Areas of recession can be very sensitive, usually treated with desensitizing toothpaste or even covered with a tooth coloured filling. If you are concerned with your receding gums, please call the practice to make an appointment to have one of our dentists examine and advise you on the different courses of treatment available.
